6th Annual FLHW Golf Tournament Print E-mail

On Friday, September 24th the Faith - Love - Hope - Win Foundation will held our sixth annual "FLHW Charity Golf Scramble". This year's event was once again at Ironhorse Golf Club in Leawood, KS.

After five years FLHW has raised over $175,000! Our success is solely due to the generosity of our friends, families and corporate sponsors.

Even with the economy in the state that it is, we were able to successfully raise $28,000 and our golf tournament. The amount, coupled with the money raised from other events throughout the year, was donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF). PCF dedicated this $40,000 donation to support research for improved treatments and a cure for advanced prostate cancer.

2010 FLHW "Warrior Combines" Print E-mail

My original intent for the "Warrior Combines" was simply to give a few of us some motivation to get in shape this summer.  After an impromptu conversation with a friend about a fellow parishioner with a life threatening illness, I realized that God wanted us to do more.  Here is the recap...

*  16 participants, highlighted by Kevin Winkley (48 yrs.) participating right alongside his 12 year old son, Reed.
*  Overwhelming charitable response from people I'm honored to call friends, totaling over $1,500!
*  Contributions from local businesses - 68 Sports, Blue Moose, 24 hr. Fitness, Spin Pizza.
*  Live news coverage on Fox, resulting in an opportunity to raise awareness across the entire city!
*  Inspiration from David Emerson, a true Warrior on what it means to not only survive, but to thrive!

My sincerest thanks to everyone who gave without hesitation.  A special thanks to all Combine volunteers, particularly 68 Sports' Clint Dominick who provided warmup, demonstration and instruction throughout the event!

Just wait until next year!
